Tourism Development: NTDC to Partner Abia State Government – Onyekachi Atulomah

The Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) has expressed willingness to partner Abia State government on tourism development.

Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Abia State on Tourism and Entertainment, Queen Onyekachi Atulomah disclosed this to African Heritage Times, after her courtesy visit to the Director-General of NTDC, Mr, Folorunsho Coker in Abuja as part of the activities marking the 2020 World Tourism Day.

The SSA explained that the purpose of her courtesy visit to the DG of NTDC was to brief him on the status of the tourism sector in Abia State and seek the Corporation’s support towards consolidating Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s efforts to reposition the sector.

Part of the outcome of her meeting with the DG, the SSA informed, is that the Corporation would soon be embarking on an evaluation exercise of tourist sites in Abia State with a view to recommending appropriate measures to be taken, to upgrade the facilities to national tourist destinations.

She also said that in order to sustain a robust synergy between the Corporation and Abia State government, the NTDC would in no distant time establish its state office in Abia.

Queen Atulomah expressed confidence that the Abia tourism sector would soon become a model, not just in the South East but across Nigeria.
