Press Release: Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing Mourns Adanma Okpara and Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi

OHANAEZE NDIGBO WORLDWIDE YOUTH WING, regret to announce the demise of two women of noble virtues.

Her Excellencies Dame Adanma Okpara & Dame Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi.

Chief (Mrs) Adanma Okpara, was the wife of the first republic Premier of defunct Eastern Nigeria, late Dr Michael Iheonukara Okpara. Her dynamic roles towards the success of Dr Michael Okpara’s adminstration is a testament to Igbo values.

Victoria Nwanyiocha Aguyi-Ironsi (21 November 1923 – 23 August 2021) was the second First Lady of Nigeria from 16 January 1966 to 29 July 1966.[1] She was the widow of General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi who was the first Nigerian military head of state and who was killed in Ibadan[2] in a countercoup led by Murtala Muhammed which led to the installation of Yakubu Gowon. With 8 successful children.

NDIGBO YOUTHS are saddened by these monumental losses at this time.
